This week’s progress in designing this site has turned out to truly be an adventure! Now that I have chosen a great domain for my purposes and the number of pages necessary, I get to do the fun part— making it look good! I considered going for a more post-modern and bold color scheme, but I feel that for the nature of the content I want to post I’d like the content itself to take the main role in drawing attention. The colors I chose are more of cool-toned and analogous palette, which reflects my own personality and tastes. I love the flexibility and clean look of this default 2024 WordPress theme, but figuring out how to make consistent changes across the different sections was a challenge.
The main things that I learned about how the Site Editor works are the hierarchy of headings and styles for each text classification, more about the hex color code system, and how to create and format new pages. I had some difficulty getting the pages to arrange themselves the way I wanted them laid out, perhaps because of how I arranged the pages when I first created the site, but I figured it out eventually! I’d like to understand more about how pages are created and work with the Site Editor more and more until it feels intuitive.
