This week’s progress was based around using AI tools such as ChatGPT to generate headlines and page ideas for this site, then refining those ideas to create something original. In my efforts to use ChatGPT for this purpose, I’ve figured out that the more specific the request you give it, the more refined and niche the answer it will provide. There is of course much debate right now about the ethics and even legality of using these tools, but in my opinion it all comes down to how much you choose to rely on AI to be creative for you. The people that are getting in trouble for using it typically do so because they relied too much on vague queries; the person was the problem, not the AI tool.
What AI has enabled me to do with my site this week is expand my list of pages and brainstorm ideas for new professional-sounding content for my posts page. I am really pleased with my infographic gallery, which while it’s organized very simply and could perhaps benefit from being categorized/filled out with more content, I feel reflects my brand and skills well.
A new challenge that has arisen for me as I am more seriously filling it with content that I have made myself is facing the fact that I don;t have a huge portfolio of real client work right now. I’m just starting out, and it does hurt my ego a little bit to recognize that I don’t have much to show potential employers yet. But the whole point of my education now and my efforts to get an internship is to prove to myself and the world that I am capable of and hungry for success in this industry. We’ll see what the next few years have in store for me!
